The humans won’t get us bacon. Hugo and I are off to town to buy our own. Uh..Hugo, do you have the money?

Sorry, impossible to put ‘bacon’ in my caption.
Instead I have to refer to that last scene, where Holly Martins this time does seem to follow Anna Schmidt.

You mean instead of just lighting the cigarette? Interesting. It never occurred to me he would follow her, rather it seemed like the moment just after Bush tried to leave the stage via the locked door in China, when he paused, squared his shoulders, and silently went, aw, crap.

Me & my shadow-brother.

Absolutely. Magnificent turning point, where the blunt American stands corrected in what must be humble acceptation. Best way to end a one-way love affair.
That specific light in your picture must have triggered my memory of that scene -but it needed the alternate ending, thanks to Hugo (or is it Oliver).

Ya know Hugo, this would have moved a lot faster if they’d left little bacon bits to mark the path to Grandma’s house rather than bread crumbs . . . shish!

They went thataway!

Crachàt: yeah, truly one of the great closing scenes ever. Still, you almost want the impossible to happen, despite it all. Be nice to have more movies with such lovely stumbling.
