I do this to my dog too, but her reaction is less placid. She immediately begins gyrating wildly, and in seconds has worked it onto the floor. It’s not mean, she loves it! I can tell because she refuses to chew the damn thing until we have played a wickedly complex version of keep-away for at least ten minutes.
I didn’t know it wasn’t an age appropriate activity for me, as Rebecca has pointed out above, but oh well, I’m 55 and think I’m actually proud of still having a sense of play. Dignity is highly overrated. Just ask Hugo and Oliver!
