Hugo is doing his part to fuel the feux de joie (fires of joy). Such bonfires are a remnant of the ancient Celtic custom of building large ceremonial fires to honor the sun. The Celts believed that the fires, built at the time of the winter and summer solstices, would hasten the return of Spring and prolong the days of Summer. After the birth of Christ, Druid beliefs were eclipsed by Christianity and the fires took on religious meanings. In France the fires were formerly associated with the Epiphany. During the late 19th century Christmas grew in importance and popularity and the bonfire tradition moved to Christmas Eve.

It’s a good stick, not a great stick, but still a good stick.
It has a nice full mouth-feel, with hints of berries and bacon. It also has a nice finish. I’d rate it at an 85.
